Temperature and humidity – Must be maintained within manufacturer’s specifications during acclimation, installation, and after installation. Failure to maintain proper temperature and humidity may cause permanent damage to flooring for which Wc Floors cannot be held responsible.

Dust – Installing new flooring may cause a considerable amount of dust. Please take adequate measures to protect your belongings. The dust cannot be contained to just the areas being installed.

Squeaks – We cannot repair existing floor squeaks or guarantee that any attempt to do so will be effective.

Doors – We assume no responsibility for cutting doors. Installers can remove doors to install flooring, but we are not responsible for replacing doors if the new flooring does not provide adequate clearance.

Walls & Baseboards – Even though the installers will take all normal precautions when new flooring is installed, it may be necessary for the customer to touch up the baseboards after installation. If you plan to paint or wallpaper, this should be completed after installation. New applied paint and wallpaper is especially susceptible to damage.

Electrical Supply – Sanding machines require 240v in ready supply and 30 amp breakers; it is the Home Owners responsibility to ensure that the appropriate light and heating conditions apply during and after refinishing of floors.

ORDERS/CHANGES/PURCHASES

PAYMENT SCHEDULE FOR FLOORING & DELIVERY ONLY – Payment must be completed in full to place order for materials and schedule delivery. Wc Floors accepts payment made by: cashiers check (written out to Wc Floors) or credit card (bank applies 3.5% merchant fee on every transaction).

RETURN POLICY – All sales are final. WC Floors does not accept returns on any flooring and/or transitions, bullnoses, and treads.

DELIVERY SCHEDULE – Desired delivery date must be scheduled at least one week in advance. WC Floors will not be liable for any damages occurring from transit. Delivery will be either curbside or placed on first floor entry of building.

Wood orders – In addition to and at time of down payment, all wood purchases must be paid in full. Wood flooring, stairs, vents, moldings, transitions and any other wood related purchases are non refundable. Wood needs to be ordered and delivered to property 7 days prior to project start date so wood can acclimate to your homes environment.

Changes – We understand plans can change like rooms being added, stain color switched etc. Changes must be approved by Wc Floors and an updated invoice will be emailed to customer for approval.

Re-Painting & Touch Ups – A full refinish of your hardwood floors is not a minor project. It requires the use of 185 lbs drum sanders, 40+lbs edger tools, scraper, buffers, the list goes on. While our crew does everything in our power to produce the absolute best product, bumps, scuffs, and marks do sometimes occur. Wc Floors is not held liable for touch ups or repainting. If negligence occurred by our crew, we will make right and come up with a great solution to fix the problem. Plan to have touch ups done after we are through.

Trim & Shoe Molding – If there is shoe molding currently installed to your baseboards, it is highly recommended to remove it or have us remove it for an additional fee. If you choose to leave it on it will be bumped, nicked and scuffed and you will probably need to do some touch up painting. In many cases, the older the shoe, the more likely it can break when removing so installing new shoe molding is recommended. Removing or re-installing shoe is not automatically included. It is an extra service. With the removal and replacement of shoe, we do not re-caulk and take no responsibility for any paint peeled from baseboards.

Dust – We use high-end dust containment systems that hook directly up to our dustiest machines and suck up about 95%-97% of dust through HEPA filters and directly into a canister. While this gets rid of almost of the dust, very fine airborne dust can occur and settle on countertops, shelves, etc. Upon final coat wipe down trim, doors, window ledges and other areas close to the floor. You are more than welcome to live at home during the process but it will not feel as clean and comfortable as you might like. House cleaning service may be added on for an additional fee which will be performed the day after final coat is dried.

Stairs – We refinish the treads only. We do not refinish risers and side risers. Also, when refinishing stair treads, risers and side risers can get nicked from machines used. We will do our very best to ensure this happens to a minimum but will not be held responsible for damages caused.

Filling – All filling will be at a chargeable basis. Any consequent gapping of the floor that requires extra filling will be at an extra cost. Please note that gaps may open up naturally due to the expansion/contraction of the wood. Filling in floorboards will dislodge over time due to the natural movement of wood floors.
Buffer and Sanding – Procedure will not produce an “as new” floor. During this procedure we cannot guarantee that deep scratches and marks, Uneven wear, Ingrained dirt and stains, Severe indentations, Non-compatible seals from previous refurbishment, etc. will work.

Carpet – If any areas of wood are attached directly to carpet, we recommend having the carpet pulled back prior to our arrival and re-tucked when the floors are done. If you choose to leave the carpet as is, we will use best practices to not damage the carpet but are not liable if sand paper, stain and finish damages the edge of the carpet.

FINISHING DETAILS

Stain Color – Color selected is final once applied. If you want a different color after your chosen stain color is applied, this requires a full refinish of the floors and you will be charged to re-sand the floors. If color cannot be determined prior to project start, we recommend an onsite stain test so you can see your floors true color and make your best decision. Note that perfect matches are not possible. Stain color will vary according to wood species and a complete uniformity when staining a floor is not possible. Staining can only be applied to bare wood. Deep scratches that break through the seal and stain will show the original wood color. Stains will produce a similar color to a wood species, BUT NOT a similar grain or pattern.

Due to the method that the stain is applied to your floor, the base boards or walls may get marked during the staining phase, we will do our very best to ensure this happens to a minimum but will not be held responsible for damages caused.

Finishes – Sheen level is final once applied. If customer would like a different sheen after seeing final coat applied, we will apply an extra layer of finish of the customers desired sheen level at an additional fee of $0.50/Sq ft. Example (you pick satin, once dried think it’s too flat and want semi gloss). Stains, Sealers & Oil based finishes have a higher level of VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) which create an unpleasant smell, can burn your eyes and is not healthy for lungs in small pets, children and pregnant woman. With windows cracked, system fans, a/c and furnace running, odor should leave property within a couple days. It is not recommended for children and small pets to remain in the home during the staining and sealing process. If a Low VOC option is needed or desired, we recommend either our Zero VOC Rubio Mono-coat system, or our Bona Traffic Water Based Finish system.

Dry Times – Oil Based finishes dry to walk on in 8-12 hours. Furniture after 48 hours and area rugs after 2 weeks. Water Based finishes are dry to walk in 2-4 hours. Furniture in 24 hours and area rugs in 7 days. Rubio Mono-coat dries to walk in 5 hour. Furniture in 24 hours and area rugs in 7 days.

For Bona Mega Finish: Full cure after 7 days.

For Bona Traffic HD Finish: Full cure in 3 days. For best results:

3-4 hours: Floor may be walked on with stocking feet only, depending on conditions

72 hours: Lift and place furniture back on the floor – DO NOT DRAG. Use felt floor protectors on all items that come in contact with floor

72 hours: Floor may be cleaned using Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner and a Bona Microfiber Mop. Place walk-off mats and area rugs on floor.

SAND AND REFINISHING WARRANTY

We stand behind our work. We guarantee our labor and finish for one year against peeling or wear under normal household conditions. Normal household conditions include regular use of the floors, such as regular foot traffic, appropriate cleaning routines, and normal furniture usage, without any extreme or unusual activities that might cause excessive wear. This warranty covers the quality of our craftsmanship and ensures your floors will look their best for years to come. However, this warranty is void if we are unable to examine the floors in person and determine cause of issue or if another company performs any work over our original refinishing.

Warranty does not cover damage caused by:

• Improper cleaning products or methods: Using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or steam cleaners can damage the finish.
• Furniture damage: Moving heavy furniture without proper protection can scratch or dent the floors.
• Water damage: Prolonged exposure to spills or leaks can seep into the wood and cause warping or discoloration.
• Pet damage: Pet accidents, scratching, or chewing can damage the floor’s finish.
• Damage from improper use of materials: Applying any adhesive or directly to the finished floor can lift the finish or leave residue.
• Environmental damage: Floors exposed to the elements like sunlight, rain, humidity, or fluctuating temperatures can cause them to become discolored or expand and contract.
• Foot wear damage: Frequent use of high heels or outdoor footwear that track in liquids, dirt, or debris can damage the floor’s finish. A person wearing high heels can exert a pressure of around 2,000 pounds per square inch (PSI) on hardwood floors. This high pressure will lead to dents, scratches, scuffs, and even holes in hardwood floors.

If you have any questions about proper care and maintenance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

4. Color Match: Refinishing to color match neighboring floors can only be guaranteed to match between 80%-90%. Please take into consideration hand applied stain and finish will not look similar to a prefinished, vinyl or engineered floor that is mass produced and have their own custom stains and finishes.
